ANANTNAG: As part of monitoring and accelerating the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the region, Mission Director (MD), JJM J&K, Khurshid Ahmad Shah today conducted site visits to Verinag sub division of PHE Division Qazigund, and later reviewed the status of Water Supply schemes in PHE Division Qazigund.
During the visit, Mission Director reviewed the progress of water supply schemes under JJM, focusing on the sustainability of water sources and technical feasibility of ongoing projects. He emphasized the need for timely completion of schemes to achieve the target of providing functional household tap connections and Har Ghar Jal certification to all rural households in the area.
The visit also included interaction with locals, officials and field staff to ensure adherence to quality standards and to resolve any implementation challenges. This initiative aligns with JJM’s broader objectives of ensuring safe and adequate drinking water access to every household in rural Jammu and Kashmir through sustainable water supply infrastructure.
Reviewing the progress in execution of civil & mechanical schemes under JJM in PHE Division Qazigund, it was informed that out of 96 civil schemes and 15 Mechanical schemes, 64 and 6 stands completed respectively. Among 116 allotted works pertaining to the civil component, 71 works have been completed so far and work is going on the rest of the projects. The works comprise of Bore wells, Rapid Sand Filtration Plants (RSFP), Over Head Tanks (OHT), Pipe Networks, Slow Sand Filtration Plants (SSFP), General Service Reservoirs (GSR) and Pump Rooms.
Mission Director directed the officers to speed up the pace of execution in view of the good weather conditions and complete the works before the onset of winter.
The chair was informed that out of 26478 Rural Households 23794 Households have been provided with Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).
Mission Director enjoined upon officers to give a renewed push to enhance pace of providing remaining Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).
The Meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic Circle Anantnag/ Kulgam, Executive Engineer of PHE Division Qazigund, Executive Engineer Ground Water Division, Srinagar, Executive Engineer, Water Quality Monitoring and other officers of the department.
