Live Streaming of PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana launch hosted at Kisan Kendra Jammu

JAMMU: The Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu organized the live streaming of the launch of PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses and the inauguration and foundation stone laying of more projects under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Food Processing Sectors by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi, today. The live streaming event was held here at the Auditorium- Kisan Kendra, Talab Tillo.

More than 200 farmers from different parts of Jammu district attended the live streaming programme.

The occasion was graced by MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta; Mission Director HADP/JKCIP Sandeep Kumar; Secretary Agriculture Production Department Nitu Gupta; Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta; Director Law Enforcement Balbir Singh; Director Command Area Development Shiv Kumar; Director Horticulture Gul Sayed and Director Sheep Husbandry Dr. Syed Moin-Ul-Haq.

Joint Directors, senior officers and staff of the Agriculture Department were also present on the occasion.

During the event, participants witnessed the live telecast of the national launch function and address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kishtwar district in Jammu division and Baramulla in Kashmir Division figure among 100 districts of the country selected for implementation of the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and to be developed as Aspirational Agricultural Districts. The selection of these districts was based on key indicators such as low crop productivity, low cropping intensity and lesser disbursement of short-term credit to farmers. The focus in Kishtwar under the scheme will be on improving the agricultural sector through enhanced crop productivity, promotion of crop diversification, development of irrigation infrastructure and strengthening of post-harvest management facilities.

On the sidelines of the event, PGS-India Organic Cluster Certificates were distributed among farmers to promote organic farming initiatives and encourage sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

The programme proceedings were conducted by District Level SMS Rajeev Katoch, while the vote of thanks was presented by Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu Manohar Lal Sharma.
