Kupwara gunfight: More reinforcements rushed to spot, no body recovered: SSP

KUPWARA: Security forces have rushed more reinforcements to the encounter site at Dana Behak, Warnow in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district for the intensified searches in the woods and has put the operation on halt in view of the darkness.

The combined government forces and militants exchanged gunfire at Dana Behak in Warnow Lolab area of Kupwara district this afternoon.

Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that more reinforcement has been rushed to the spot and no militant has been killed as of now in the ongoing anti militancy operation.

He said that a joint search operation was earlier launched on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area which later led to an encounter and heavy fire was exchanged initially.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara, Shriram Ambarkar also told KNO that more reinforcement has been rushed to the spot and the operation will continue throughout the night.

Refuting the rumors about any recovery made and killing of a militant in the ongoing operation, he said that no militant body has been recovered from the spot as of now neither  recoveries in terms of warlike store have been made.

“There is no fresh update from the spot while more reinforcement has been rushed to spot and the searches will continue during the night”, he said.
