SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday alleged that a Kashmiri voter was manhandled by armed forces in Jammu after he refused to cast his vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

She tweeted, “A voter at polling booth in Jammu was manhandled by the BSF because he refused to cast his vote for BJP. Using armed forces at polling stations to coerce people to vote for the BJP shows their desperation & hunger to usurp power by hook or crook.”

Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections began on April 11, with two seats from Jammu and Kashmir — Baramulla and Jammu.

Earlier, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah had alleged that the Congress button is not functional in several booths in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Omar Abdullah took to Twitter, sharing a video from a local news site that talks of EVM malfunctioning in several places in the Poonch district.

In the video, a presiding officer from the Shahpur polling booth can be heard saying that there was a delay in polling due to a button on the EVM not functioning.
