JAMMU: Under the patronage of Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Judicial Academy), Arun Palli and guidance of Chairperson and members of Governing Committee for J&K Judicial Academy, the J&K Judicial Academy today launched the two week Training Course for Legal Assistants of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The programme is aimed at strengthening the legal understanding, administrative competence and professional capacity of the officers working in various departments of the UT administration of Ladakh. It is being conducted from 01 December to 12 December 2025 at the Academy, Jammu.
The inaugural day of the training witnessed an interactive and insightful academic engagement led by eminent academicians and legal experts.
The first session was conducted by Professor S K Sharma, Former Head, Department of Law & Dean, Faculty of Law and Former State Information Commissioner, J&K, who deliberated on the Constitutional Scheme of Governance and the Role of the UT Administration. He highlighted the foundational principles of Indian constitutionalism and discussed the constitutional responsibilities of administrative officers. He emphasised the ethical governance and legal compliance in public administration.
The second session was led by Professor Sanjay Gupta, Former Director, The Law School, University of Jammu, who spoke on Separation of Powers, Rule of Law and the Role and Duties of Law Officers. He provided detailed insights on effective legal scrutiny, drafting of administrative notes and the significance of maintaining objectivity and legality in administrative decision-making.
The third session, also taken by Professor Sanjay Gupta, was a practical workshop focusing on Drafting a Legal Note and a Case Study on Delegation of Powers. The participants engaged in hands-on drafting exercises and interactive discussions aimed at developing clarity, precision and analytical reasoning in official legal work.
Director, J&K Judicial Academy, Naseer Ahmad Dar, conducted the proceedings of the day-long session of the training course for Legal Assistants of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
