No interview for non-gazetted and subordinate jobs in Ladakh

UT administration issues notification; LG invokes MHA notification, DOPT directions

SRINAGAR: In a significant decision, the administration of Ladakh Union Territory has done away with oral tests for recruitment to non-gazetted and class IVth posts.

The Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, RK Mathur has ordered that selection for Group ‘C’(including Class IVth posts) and Group ‘B’(non-gazetted posts) shall be solely made on written test to be conducted by recruiting agencies after Ministry of Home Affairs empowered him to define conditions governing recruitment for such posts.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to S.0 282( E ),dated 21st January  2020  and in pursuance to the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel & Trainings, Government of India and in suppression of all rules and orders pertaining to the recruitment of Group ‘C’(including Class IV) and Group ‘B’( non-gazetted posts) of the Departments or services under the administration of Union Territory of Ladakh and also in companies, organisations, or local bodies substantially owned  or controlled by the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Lt. Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh is pleased to direct that there shall be no oral tests and recruitment for all such posts shall be made solely on the basis of written test to be conducted by the recruiting agency, “reads the notification, a copy of which is available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

According to the notification, the procedure will not be applicable to the posts for which selection process has already been initiated by LAHDC Boards/ recruiting agencies and the same shall continue to be governed by the rules/ orders in force on the date of issuance of advertisement for recruitment.

“ Provided further that skill tests and physical tests as are different from interview shall continue to be parameter for the selection process wherever prescribed under the relevant recruitment rules,” it further states.

In January this year, MHA empowered Ladakh LG to define method of recruitment for Group C and B posts and conditions of service for those appointed to these posts in the newly carved out Union  Territory.
