ANANTNAG: Job aspirants, students, and business professionals have urged the authorities to end Internet blockade in south Kashmir which remained barred for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday.

On July 7, the mobile Internet was snapped in entire south Kashmir after three civilians, including a teenage girl, were killed in army firing in Hawoora village of Kulgam district.

An official said the Internet was snapped to “stop the spreading of rumors in the area.”

Street Times received dozens of distress calls and emails from students and job aspirants who called for an end to Internet gag.

“We the students are suffering a lot due to the snapping of Internet services in our area. We are not able to download material available online or read the national newspapers needed for cracking various competitive exams,” an aspirant wrote in an email.
