SRINAGAR: Former BJP MLA Gagan Bhagat has moved Supreme Court to challenge the dissolution of Jammu and Kashmir assembly by Governor Satya Pal Malik.

A petition filed by Gagan Bhagat has been admitted and top court is likely to hear it next week.

“Yes I have challenged the dissolution of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in the Supreme Court of India and the petition was on Thursday formally admitted by the top court of the country.”

Local news agency KNS quoting sources also claimed that Gagan Bhagat is presently drawing close proximity with the top brass of National Conference.

The challenge to dissolution of assembly comes amid reports that election commission was mulling to club J&K assembly elections with the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in the country.

On November 21, the Governor dissolved the Assembly after the PDP staked claim to form a government along with the Congress and with the outside backing of the National Conference.

In no time, Sajad Lone made a counter claim to power with the backing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and rebel Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLAs.
