JAMMU: In a commendable humanitarian initiative aimed at providing relief to the poor and underprivileged during the biting winter season, Janbaaz Foundation Jammu & Kashmir organized a welfare programme at Satwari, Jammu. Under the programme, blankets and other essential items were distributed among needy and deserving individuals to help them cope with the severe cold. The initiative witnessed the participation of a large number of economically weaker families, senior citizens, daily wage earners, and other vulnerable sections of society.

With winter tightening its grip across the region, the need for such welfare measures has become more pressing, particularly for those who lack adequate resources to protect themselves from the harsh weather. Understanding this urgency, Janbaaz Foundation stepped forward to extend timely assistance, reflecting its long-standing commitment to social welfare and humanitarian service.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Chairperson of Janbaaz Foundation Jammu & Kashmir, Aalam Ara Janbaaz, emphasized that alleviating the sufferings of the poor and marginalized sections during the harsh winter months remains the Foundation’s foremost priority. She said that the distribution of blankets, warm clothing, and essential daily-use items is aimed at safeguarding vulnerable individuals from the adverse effects of cold weather and ensuring that no one is left to battle the winter without basic protection.

“Winters are especially cruel for those who struggle to meet even their basic needs. Through this initiative, we are trying to provide some relief and comfort to families who are otherwise forced to endure extreme cold conditions without adequate resources,” she said.

Aalam Ara Janbaaz further stated that the welfare activities carried out by the Foundation are not limited to seasonal relief but are part of a broader mission to support the poor, needy, and marginalized throughout the year. She reiterated her firm resolve to carry forward the humanitarian mission initiated several decades ago by the late Janbaaz Sahib, whose vision was rooted in selfless service to humanity.

Highlighting the inclusive and humanitarian ethos of the Foundation, she said that Janbaaz Foundation serves people without any discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, or sect. “Humanity is above all divisions. Our sole objective is to serve those in need and to stand by them in times of difficulty,” she added.

The Chairperson also made a heartfelt appeal to philanthropists, social activists, and other non-governmental organizations to extend their cooperation and support to such welfare initiatives. She emphasized that collective efforts can significantly expand the reach of such programmes and ensure that help reaches a larger number of deserving people across different areas.

Several local residents and volunteers were also present during the programme and actively assisted in the smooth distribution of relief material. They lauded the efforts of Janbaaz Foundation and described the initiative as timely and much needed, particularly for families living in poverty and facing extreme hardships during the winter season.

The beneficiaries of the programme expressed their deep gratitude to the Foundation and its Chairperson for the support provided. Many of them said that the blankets and essential items distributed during this critical time proved to be a great relief and helped them face the cold with a sense of security and dignity. Elderly beneficiaries and daily wage earners, in particular, acknowledged that such assistance brings hope and reassurance to those struggling for survival.

The office bearers of Janbaaz Foundation Jammu & Kashmir reaffirmed their commitment to continue working relentlessly for the welfare and well-being of weaker sections of society. They stated that the Foundation will persist in organizing similar welfare activities in the future, especially in areas where people are most in need.
