IUST celebrates the International Nurses Day-2019

Awantipora: Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology(SMMCNMT), a constituent college of Islamic University of Science and Technology, organised Two Day Workshop on “Application of Nursing Theories in Education, Research and Practice”. During the Workshop, International Nurses Day-2019 was celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing with the theme “A Voice to lead: Health for All”. Special Lecture on “caring in Nursing from the Islamic Perspective” was also a part of the workshop.

Prof. A.M Shah, Dean Academic Affairs of IUST, the Guest of Honour while hailing the role of Nursing Profession in society and the whole World, elaborated the contribution of the nursing profession in preventive, curative and restorative aspects of health. He emphasized the dedication of nurses towards their profession.

The Programme was attended by Deans, HODs of various departments, faculty and students.

Ms Asmat Parveen, Principal SMMCN & MT paid tribute to Florence Nightingale, Founder of modern nursing and delivered special Lecture on “Caring in Nursing from the Islamic Perspective” with special focus on the contribution towards nursing care by the First Islamic Nurse, Rufaida Aslamia. The event was followed by lamp lightening and oath ceremony.
