SHOPIAN: A function to observe International Human Rights Day was today held at Shopian under the aegis of Chief Education Officer Shopian in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Shopian.
A large gathering of officers and officials from the Department of Education and District Legal Services Authority besides scores of students were present on the occasion.
The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Shopian Mohammad Mushtaq inaugurated the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO said it is important to observe such days to remind us of our rights as human beings. He said no human being should ever be discriminated against on the basis of Colour, Cast, creed or gender.
He also said all the human beings should be treated with equality and dignity besides he also stressed on avoiding of child abuse in the society.
Meanwhile, the Secretary District legal Service Authority Sajad Ahmad Khan stressed on awareness of legal rights of human beings and assured legal awareness programmes will be held in the schools from time to time for general awareness of legal rights among the students.
