Senior citizens, PwDs express gratitude for initiative

SRINAGAR: Home voting for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PwDs) continued for the second consecutive day in Srinagar, with polling teams facilitating ‘Vote from Home’ for eligible voters.

As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a 96-year-old woman cast her vote at Fateh Kadal, marking another instance of civic participation in the electoral process.

Senior citizens in Srinagar have expressed gratitude to the Election Commission of India for introducing the ‘Vote from Home’ facilitation, which has provided convenience and accessibility to voters aged 85 and above, as well as PwDs.

In a video received by KNO, a 105-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman shared their appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the comfort and freedom from long queues experienced through home voting.

“We feel comfortable voting at home. We are thankful to the government for such an initiative,” they said.
