Hizb Militant Killed in Overnight Encounter in Pulwama

Srinagar: A Hizbul Mujahideen outfit affiliated militant was killed by force in an overnight encounter in South Kashmir Pulwama’s Uzrampathri area. 

As per officials, the encounter took place during an intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in Uzrampathri area of Pulwama after a cordon and search operation was carried out by a joint team of police. Army and CRPF. 

In the ensuing gunfight, a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit was killed by force who has been identified as Feroz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Shopian. Police said that the slain was A+ category militant and was involved in several crimes and attacks on security forces. 

“The killed militant was active since 2017 and involved in several militant crime cases including attack on the Minority Guard in December 2018 at Zainapora resulting in the death of 04 police personnel and looting their service rifles,” said police in a statement, adding that slain was also involved in killing of a girl, Ishrat Muneer, a resident of Dangerpora Pulwama in February 2019.

Police also said that Dar was involved in killing of a non local labour, Charnajeet, a resident of Fazila Punjab and injuring another in October 2019 when they were loading Apple boxes in a vehicle in Zainapora area of Shopian.
