Good Governance Week: Forest Department Anantnag conducts plantation drive

ANANTNAG: As part of the Good Governance week being observed from 20-25 December, Forest Department Anantnag (DFO Bijbehara Lidder) carried out a plantation drive on the banks of river Lidder. The drive was conducted at Yaner, Pahalgam and Mattan. 

SDM Pahalgam participated in the plantation drive. He said that the drive is being carried out to prevent erosion on river banks. He appealed to the people to carry out similar plantation drives at the local level.

DFO Bijbehara Lidder Division said that under the ambit of River India program, the Forest Department has organized plantation drives at various spots on the river bank. He said that while under Green JK drive, the department has been carrying out extensive plantation in the district, under River India special focus is on plantation in the vicinity of our rivers to reduce soil erosion and increase the green cover.

The event was attended by PRI members and field functionaries of the Forest Department.

On similar lines, Forest Division Anantnag organized plantation and cleanliness drives at various spots on the banks of river Jehlum. The event was attended by DFO Anantnag, functionaries of the forest department and members of civil society.

In addition to this, several grievance redressal camps were organized across the length and breadth of the district. Under the ambit of Prashasan Gaun Ki Aur, Agriculture Department Anantnag distributed Soil Health Cards in Zone Mattan. 

Similarly certificate distribution camps and grievance redressal camps were also held in Tehsil Anantnag, Srigufwara, Larnoo, Shangus, Saller and Pahalgam.

District Social Welfare Office also organized grievance redressal camps at various Tehsil Social welfare offices for speedy disposal of grievances.
