SRINAGAR: Reacting to the statement of defense minister Rajnath Singh, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that saying that “Kashmir issue will be resolved soon”, has pricked the balloon of deceitful rhetoric of “Atoot Ang”.

In a statement Geelani said that resolutions are sought only for disputed and unresolved issues so even subconsciously, Indian rulers have accepted Jammu and Kashmir to be a dispute, the resolution of which, according to them, is going to be very soon.

Completely rejecting the assertion that “they only will resolve it and nobody can question”, Hurriyat chairman said that Kashmir dispute is Himalaya like reality and such utterances from Indian rulers are not only far from reality but a sign of highhandedness and arrogance. Kashmir issue is a long pending dispute, live on the UN agenda. It has consumed more than 3 generations of the state and still continues to threat the existence of yet another generation, he said.

Geelani said that lakhs of people of sacrificed their lives, with death and destruction visible in every nook and corner of the state, scores of widows and orphans, unending suffocating and uncertain situation along with the aspirations of the people in the light of its historical facts—all need to be taken into account before jumping to the conclusion of this grave issue.

The Hurriyat (G) Chairman said that had it been only up to India to solve it, they had forcibly and militarily ‘occupied’ it long before, but despite their might and unparalleled oppression—Kashmir issue is still existing like a monster, endangering the peace and prosperity of not only the subcontinent but the whole world as well.

Hurriyat chairman said that when India itself was fighting the British rule, their occupier also used to threaten them that freedom from “British is not possible”, but time has proved that souls cannot be suppressed for too long and no matter how big and mighty the occupier is—it has to leave the forced control and India too will have to vacate this land like Britishers vacated Indian soil.

Geelani said that Kashmiris have been enslaved for decades and every oppressor has proved his muscle to the maximum—creating countless deaths, scores of graveyards and with mass arrests for years together, but freedom sentiments are flourishing more than before and go on increasing with each passing day.

Honestly suggesting rulers the Hurriyat (G) Chairman said that they should take concrete steps for permanent resolution of this issue and then focus on the upliftment of life standard of their poor population.
