SRINAGAR: Hurriyat (g) Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has strongly condemned the summoning of his other son Dr Naeem-ul-Zaffer Geelani by NIA and said that rulers and its agencies have stooped to the lowest level of moral and ethical bankruptcy, which no sane person can even think of. He said that we have explained our point of view in closed doors as well as in open public.

Quoting Geelani, the spokesman said that I have been caged in my four walled residences for the last 9 years, not to talk of any political activity, I have not been allowed to attend any social function also, after putting a siege around me they have targeted my family particularly two sons. Earlier my younger son Dr Naseem Geelani was summoned by both NIA & ED and now my elder son Dr Naeem has been called by NIA to Delhi.

He said that Naeem is a heart patient under regular supervision of doctors and psychological stress can be very fatal for him. Hurriyat chairman said that if questioning anybody including my son is must they can do so in the valley.

The pro-freedom leader said Delhi rulers and its agencies harass and intimidate my family just to pressurize me, but these acts will yield nothing for them. He said that in 2017 also when the ghost of NIA threatened every freedom loving person, particularly their families including common and businessman, we voluntarily offered ourselves to be questioned by the investigating agency, but very cunningly the authorities didn’t dare to face us.

He said that if Delhi rulers treat us as lawbreakers and want to clarify their doubt’s, I once again offer myself for such questioning and my past more than 50 years political career stands testimony to the fact that all the agencies, overt or covert, are well aware of my political stand.

The pro-freedom leader said that I have been facing atrocities, curbs, jails, interrogation by the lodger for the last 7 decades and how can they even think of any compromise by me using such mean and childish actions of threatening and humiliating my children.

Geelani also condemned the incident in Srinagar Central jail, where dozens of inmates were lathicharged, fired upon and injured. Geelani said that Kashmiries neither safe in their houses nor outside and now jails are also unsafe from them.

He said that one or the other pretext, prisoners are harassed and humiliated for so long, but now they are being physically harmed with lathies and bullets.

Hurriyat chairman said that helpless detenues are completely at the mercy of jail authorities and torturing and brutalizing them is grossly inhumane and unethical.

He appealed to the world human rights bodies and prisoners rights forums to take this issue seriously and make the culprits accountable.
