SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has strongly condemned killing of minor Aatif Mir, 11, in Hajan.

Paying rich tributes to the militants who were slain in gunfights with the forces in Sopore, Hajan and Shopian, Geelani, in a statement said, “Kashmiri people are determined to continue the ongoing sacred movement till it reaches the logical conclusion and will never allow these supreme sacrifices go waste.”

He condemned the use of “force’ against the civilian protestors in Shopian. “On the pretext of search and cordon operations common people are deliberately targeted and victimized by the men in uniform. In this grim situation the life of common people has become miserable and vulnerable at the hands of forces in every nook and corner of the state,” he added.

Condemning the closure of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, yet again, Geelani said, “Preventing people from offering prayers is unfortunate and unacceptable,”

Geelani said, “Authorities are hell bent to curb and strangulate the genuine aspirations and political voice for nation’s basic and fundamental rights, right to self-determination, which is not only recognized, but legitimized as well by the world powers particularly United Nations, but New Delhi is stuck in the denial mode of this age old issue and any voice to remind it is responded with muscular power.”

“We appeal to the international community, global peers  and rights champions to peep into these deadly suffocating and desperate inhabitants of this unfortunate Valley and help them out of this unending nightmare,” Geelani said.
