GDC Mahanpur hosts webinar on “Coping with Covid and Post Covid complications through Yoga”

KATHUA: Government Degree College Mahanpur today organized a one day National Webinar on “Coping with Covid and Post Covid Complications through Yoga” under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The programme was organized by the Department of Physical Education in collaboration with ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) Club and IQAC cell of the college, which was inaugurated by college Principal r Dr. Rakesh K Koul. 

The welcome address was presented by Dr. Balbinder Singh (Physical Director) and the proceeding of the programme was conducted by Dr. Parshotam Dass.

Founder faculty, Head department of Yogic Science, Dean Student Welfare, Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar Dr. Laxmi Narayan Joshi, was the invited speaker on the occasion. Dr. Laxmi Narayan Joshi talked about various techniques and methods available in Yogic science to deal with stress, anxiety, depression etc.

Dr. Joshi explained in detail about Covid-19 and its symptoms.  He discussed the benefits of various Yoga asanas like Surya Namaskar, Parnamasana, Makarasana, Jesticasana, specially for covid patients having low energy level. The methods and benefits of all the asanas were demonstrated by Yoga teacher Aakansha and thoroughly explained by Dr. Joshi. Jal Neti was practically demonstrated by Dr. Laxmi Narayan.

He suggested shavaasana, Makarasana, Jyestikasana,  Saral Dhanurasana to deal with Stress, Diabetes Constipation and to improve lungs capacity and metabolism.

To deal with insomnia, he suggested Sasankasana and Bhramiari pranayama as stress busters. On diet related issues of the present era, he recommended to all to include traditional local food items and fruits in daily diet.

An interactive session on how to deal with Panic attacks, anxiety, syndrome, insecurity because of the loss of dear ones, way of living etc was also held. The questions were replied in a demonstrative and simple effective way by. Dr. Joshi and were appreciated by all.

Principal Dr. RK Koul, appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and suggested the participants to follow the approaches recommended by Dr. Joshi to cope with Covid and post Covid complications.

Among others, Dr. Munisha Devi, Prof. Arvind Kumar, Saurabh Dutta., Dr. Neetika  Verma, Prof. Anu Sharma, Prof. Naresh Kumar, Dr. Sapna Devi and Dr. Hilal Ahmed, were also present.
