‘Fit India Freedom Run’ flagged off in Ganderbal, Kulgam

GANDERBAL/KULGAM: Under Jan Abhiyan Programme, ‘Fit India Freedom Run’ was flagged off today in Ganderbal and Kulgam, organized by the department of Youth Services and Sports under the aegis of Fit India Movement.

‘Fit India Freedom Run’ is a part of Fit India movement that was started in the year 2019 as a nation-wide movement to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives.

At Ganderbal: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today flagged off the ‘Fit India Freedom Run’, from Manigam Bypass Junction and culminated at Police Station Lar, Ganderbal.

In the event hundreds of runners including departmental officials and students participated with great enthusiasism.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the essence of creating awareness through Fit India campaign was to educate people about physical fitness which ultimately makes one mentally strong and stressed upon the participants to take part in such events so as to keep themselves and the society physically and mentally fit.

He also highlighted the initiatives taken by the District Administration to give flip to sports in the district.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, ADC Ganderbal, DYS&SO and DSP besides many other dignities were present on the occasion.

At Kulgam: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat flagged off “Fit India Freedom Run” from here at Sports Stadium Kulgam in which over 350 students and departmental officials participated.

Speaking on the occasion the DC said that main aim of organizing such events is to engage youth in sports activities to keep them physically and mentally fit.

DC also highlighted the initiatives taken by district Administration to give flip to sports activities in the district.

The DC appreciated the department for organizing such programs and urged the DYS&SO, for conducting more such programs in future.

Among others, Dy-SP, Dy-CEO, Bashir Ahmad, DYS&SO and SHO Kulgam besides other officers and officials were present on the occasion.
