Field survey of Tribal Migratory population begins in Udhampur district

UDHAMPUR: The field   Survey of tribal migratory population began today in Udhampur district under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib . The designated teams reached their destination sites / highland pastures Viz Patnitop, Chirdi  and other areas.

On the first day, the designated teams of Enumerators and Supervisors reached their respective destinations and few teams were on the way . The teams are  collecting data of Tribal families as per the format . The survey was started early this morning with enthusiastic participation of tribal community members.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the main objective of conducting this Tribal  Survey is to extend socio-economic benefits to the Tribal/nomads with ease and efficiency by creating accurate data as the same is pivotal in formulating appropriate policy designs. She said that the survey of Tribal population is unique in many ways. She  stressed on complete and accurate information and also appealed to the Tribal Community  of District Udhampur to come forward and cooperate with survey teams visiting their door steps and guide them to their highland pastures /destinations so as to meet the objectives of this first of its kind initiative of UT Govt . She added that the progress of the survey will be monitored on a daily basis at different levels through technological  interventions and monitoring teams.

The DC Udhampur appealed to Tribal Community members, BDCs, DDCs and  PRI’s to participate in this survey with utmost dedication and devotion so that every potential destination site is visited. She stressed upon the officers of Forest, wildlife department and Revenue Departments to work in coordination and guide the Enumeration teams to  the highland pastures so that no one is left out of survey.

The DC said that the District Administration has designated nodal officers for successful conduct of this survey.  In this connection, the SDMs and Tehsildars have been directed to closely monitor so that no potential areas/habitations are left out and the Naib Tehsildars  have been ordered to furnish undertakings regarding100% coverage of potential  survey destinations  for their respective  Niabats. 

The Enumerators and Supervisors were directed to work with zeal and dedication to complete the Survey in a transparent and time bound manner and ensure that no family is left out.
