Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan on Wednesday as Shawwal moon sighted

KARACHI: Pakistani nation will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday, June 05, as Shawwal 1440 Hijri moon has been sighted in the country.

This was announced by Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after presiding over the meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi on Tuesday.

The evidences of moon sighting were received from Quetta, Loralai district of Balochistan, Kashmore, Lahore, Rahimyar Khan, Sadiqabad, Zhob, Kamra, Attock, Taxila, Sui, Shikarpur and others areas.

Comprising religious scholars and Met Office Officials, the chairman announced the decision on the basis of evidence received from across the country.

Zonal Ruete Hilal Committees also held their meetings in major cities of the country to collect the evidence of moon sighting. The evidences were  then shared with the  Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for the final decision.

Muslims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today after an independent Ruet-e-Hilal Committee headed    Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai announced that it has collected evidence of moonsighting from different parts of the region.

Saudi Arabia, UAE and several countries in the Middle East are also celebrating Eid today.
