POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Safe Food and Healthy Diets. The Committee reviewed the implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006 in the district and discussed measures to strengthen monitoring against food adulteration.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Shafket Hussain Bhat; Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik; General Manager DIC Naheem Un Nissa Bhatti; Chief Education Officer Mukhtar Manhas; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan; CAO Jograj Singh Salathia, Assistant Director FSC & CA Adil Shabir; Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Tariq Mehmood; CDPO Haveli Abdul Aziz and other concerned officers and officials.
The meeting focused on enforcement, inspection and sampling of food items to ensure adherence to prescribed food safety standards.
Key issues deliberated included the availability and functioning of slaughter houses, sampling of food items, promotion of the Eat Right Movement, availability of fresh fruits and vegetables in local markets and the functioning of Food Safety on Wheels, besides other related matters.
The DC emphasized the importance of proactive measures to ensure the safety and quality of food products, thereby strengthening public health and consumer confidence.
