DC stresses on intensifying checking, awareness
UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on safe food and healthy diets in the Mini Conference Hall, DC Office Complex.
While chairing the meeting, the DC emphasized the need to generate maximum public awareness regarding food safety, hygiene and adulteration through sustained and district-wide outreach activities. She directed the concerned departments to intensify market inspections across the district and enhance the collection of food samples by adopting scientific procedures.”Organize awareness programmes involving all stakeholders to educate people about the importance of safe food practices and maintaining a healthy diet’ the DC instructed officers.
She further stressed strict enforcement of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and directed the Food Safety Department to intensify inspection of food establishments and initiate compounding proceedings against defaulters.
