Div Com reviews emerging Covid situation in Jammu Division

Also inspects Covid Control Room of NHM Directorate, issues directions for adopting effective strategy

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer today reviewed the prevailing Covid-19 situation in Jammu division here at a meeting with Deputy Commissioners and senior functionaries of Health Department.

Pertinently, keeping in view the surge in Covid-19 cases in recent times the Government of Jammu and Kashmir on March 30 has issued fresh guidelines for regulating activities within Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to effectively contain the further spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

At the outset, Mission Director NHM gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation and apprised the meeting about the district wise current graph of positive cases, contact tracing, home isolation and other measures being taken for containment of Covid-19 spread. He also apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the overall sampling status at Lakhanpur, Airport and Railway stations.

The Deputy Commissioners informed the Div Com about the Covid-19 situation and control measures being adopted by the respective districts administration to contain further spread of the virus. It was informed that the testing capacity has been increased in the districts. The DCs also apprised the Div Com about the requirement of kits, man power, lab technicians and funds.

The Div Com instructed the DCs, CMOs to send requirements to Director Health and MD, NHM. He also stressed on the man power management and instructed to rotate the staff, put on Covid related duties to ensure better efficiency.

During the meeting, the Div Com stressed on intensive contact tracing of positive cases. He also emphasized on rigorous testing and vaccination drive to be conducted in all districts.

He also directed for sampling of passengers coming from outside UT of J&K and also directed the concerned to speed up the vaccination drive for maximum coverage of people. Stress was laid on increasing the session sites in view of persons above 45 years being eligible to be vaccinated from April 1, onwards.

Later, the Div Com also inspected the  Covid Control Room in NHM Directorate at Nagrota and inquired about the functioning of the control room. He appreciated the staff and urged them to maintain proper record of every call received at the control room and the action taken report on each and every query.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, MD NHM, Principal GMC Jammu, DG Family Welfare and Immunization, Epidemiologist UT, Director Planning, Deputy Director Health Services and other concerned while Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division alongwith concerned CMOs, Principal GMC’s, and Nodal Officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
