DC inaugurates programme to promote floriculture, farmers’ empowerment

DODA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Krishan Lal, today inaugurated a District Level Event under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) Scheme here at the Community Hall.

The programme was organized by the Department of Floriculture, Parks and Gardens with the objective of promoting commercial floriculture, beautifying the environment and empowering farmers through sustainable livelihood opportunities. A large number of farmers and stakeholders associated with floriculture and allied sectors attended the programme.

ADDC, Roshan Lal; CPO, Manesh Kumar; PO ICDS, Akhter Qazi; Assistant Floriculture Officer, Arjun Singh Parihar; Sheep Husbandry Officer, Agriculture Officer, Horticulture Officer along with other officers, officials and staff members of the Floriculture Department were also present.

After inauguration, the DC inspected the stalls showcasing floriculture products, innovative cultivation techniques and government-supported initiatives. He also interacted with participating farmers and exhibitors, appreciating their efforts in adopting modern agricultural practices.

Addressing the gathering, the DC emphasized the importance of such programmes in creating awareness among the public about the government schemes. “Commercial floriculture has immense potential to enhance farmers’ income while contributing to environmental beautification and sustainable development,” he noted.

The Deputy Commissioner applauded local farmers for their remarkable contribution to lavender cultivation, which has earned national recognition for District Doda and opened new avenues for economic growth in the region.

 Later, appreciation certificates were distributed among progressive farmers in recognition of their dedication and achievements in the field of floriculture.
