SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir today organised a district-level sensitization and educational workshop under the Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP) at IIKSTC Dussoo, Pulwama.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, who inaugurated the event and shared the department’s broader vision for the upcoming agricultural cycle.
In his inaugural address, the Director emphasized that the workshop is aimed at strengthening agricultural planning, enhancing farmer-oriented service delivery, and establishing a robust development framework based on informed decision-making. He highlighted the significance of district-level sensitization programmes in equipping officers and field functionaries with the essential understanding required for effective implementation of departmental schemes, ensuring timely and impactful delivery of benefits to the farming community.
Addressing the participants, the Director stressed the importance of coordinated efforts, transparency, and continuous follow-up to achieve the project’s objectives. He urged officers to take the learnings of the workshop along with the members of youth clubs to the grassroots and work collectively to make the district a model for efficient and result-oriented implementation of JKCIP.
The workshop witnessed active participation from key officers and stakeholders, including the Assistant Development Commissioner Awantipora, Joint Director Agriculture Extension Kashmir, Chief Agriculture Officer Pulwama, and other senior officers of the department. Field functionaries, technical experts and 12 Youth clubs were also present and engaged in detailed deliberations on strengthening project monitoring systems, promoting innovative agricultural interventions, and improving data management practices across the sector.
The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the department’s dedication to promoting sustainable agriculture, empowering farmers, and ensuring holistic agricultural development across the region.
