REASI: Director Tourism Jammu Vivekanand Rai today visited Katra and Shiv Khori Shrine to take stock of prospective facilities to be provided in near future by the Tourism Department.
The Director Tourism, Jammu was accompanied by Suresh Khajuria DDT(M&W); Vijay Sharma Assistant Director Tourism, (M&W): Manish Mangotra J.E (M&W) and other officials.
The Tour was planned to explore possibilities of bringing ShivKhori on the Tourist Map of India. During the extensive tour, Director Tourism, Jammu asked the concerned to explore the possibility of installing hoardings at Strategic locations in Katra so that the tourists visiting the shrine of MaaVaishno Devi jee also pay obeisance in the shrine of Baba ShivKhori.
The Director Tourism Jammu requested the technical wing to prepare a DPR regarding works to be executed in near future including feasibility of drinking water, landscaping, sitting benches etc. The works which are included in this year ‘s plan includes electrification, view points, benches etc. Also, the Director Tourism, Jammu directed the officials to conduct a cleanliness drive in the region with the help of local stakeholders.
ShivKhori – the holy cave abode of Lord Shiva is situated at a distance of 17 KM from Katra and is well conducted to Katra, Jammu by road. Pertinent to mention is that the Director Tourism, Jammu has already requested the Cable car Corporation to explore the feasibility of establishing a Cable Car in the region.
