Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Flags-off Farmers’ Exposure Tour to Pashudhan Mela at Srinagar

JAMMU: Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu Dr. Sanjay Gupta today flagged-off a group of 40 livestock farmers for an exposure tour/visit to the Pashudhan Mela being organized at Srinagar. The tour has been sponsored under the centrally sponsored scheme ATMA with the objective of providing farmers an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the latest technologies and best practices in the field of Animal Husbandry.

During the tour, farmers will get to see high yielding dairy breeds and learn about improved breeding techniques, interact with experts from various Institutions who can guide them on scientific dairy management, fodder development and animal nutrition.

The Director, while addressing the farmers, emphasized the importance of such exposure visits in enhancing their technical know-how about latest machinery viz. milking machines, feed mixers, chaff cutters, silage bailers and other tools that enhance efficiency and reduce wastages in dairying. “Interaction with other progressive farmers helps in knowledge sharing and motivates farmers to adopt successful practices at their own farm”, he added.

Dy. Director Central, Dr. Adris Malik, Dy. Director Poultry, Dr. Rakesh Koul, CAHO Jammu, Dr. Zahid Saleem, Extension Officer, Accounts Officer and other staff members from the Directorate were also present on the occasion.
