DIC Anantnag conducts Awareness session on Innovation & Entrepreneurship at GDC Ang

ANANTNAG: In continuation to District Administration Anantnag’s initiative of holding series of interaction sessions cum awareness seminars in various educational institutions in the district, the District Information Centre (DIC) Anantnag and District Employment and Counselling Centre, Anantnag in collaboration with Kalam Innovation club today organized a session on Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Govt Degree College (GDC) Anantnag.

The event was presided over by Sheikh Jahangir from National Innovation Foundation and a three-time president awardee. 

He was the brain behind the innovations in the Hindi blockbuster, 3 Idiots and was the chief guest and main speaker for the event. In his key address, innovator Sheikh Jahangir (The Real Rancho) native of Andhra Pradesh and settled in Mumbai energized the students with his lines “through simple ideas the world can go towards progressive growth”.

“It is the right time for the budding engineers to take up the nation to the next level,” he said.

The prominent innovator also shared many life examples including the experience in the 3 idiots movie, how his simple innovation moved his life from nowhere to a famous personality with his innovation. 

Innovators Qayoom Naik, Refaz and Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, famous as Kokernag twins also motivated the students with their inspiring struggle and innovation. It is in place to mention that Refaz and Ishfaq have been awarded by the President of India for their innovations.

Principal GDC (Boys) Khanabal Professor Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat emphasized that the New Education Policy promotes skill enhancement and encourages students to delve into entrepreneurial opportunities. He said that with the plethora of Govt. schemes for kindling the innovator in students, he is confident that many more students will create meaningful employment opportunities for themselves and for others. 

District Information Officer and Counselling Officer gave the students a brief about the various govt schemes in vogue like PMEGP, Tejaswini, ODOP, etc through which interested applicants can set up their own business units and generate employment. 

The event was attended by staff and students from GDC Anantnag among others.
