GANDERBAL: The concluding day of ambitious programme “My Town My Pride” today witnessed multifarious activities in district Ganderbal amid overwhelming public participation.

The main function under “My Town My Pride” was organized at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal during which cultural events and folk songs were presented on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” besides various sports activities were also witnessed.

On the occasion, Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta, distributed Baby kits among lactating mothers, pension passbooks and loan sanction letters among the beneficiaries. He also felicitated COVID warriors and lauded their selfless services during the pandemic.

Later, Principal Secretary chaired a meeting of the Councilors to review the developmental scenario of the town besides taking stock of functioning of Municipal Council Ganderbal.

The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, President Municipal Council Ganderbal, CPO Ganderbal, EO Municipality besides Councilors and district officers.

During the meeting, EO briefed the Principal Secretary through a power point presentation about functioning of Municipal Council and major achievements during last year like removal of bottlenecks, cent percent door to door waste collection, installation of street lights, Physical and Financial progress under 14th Finance Grants 2020-21 and activities during COVID pandemic.

The councilors raised several issues like establishment of SWMP, creation of parking facilities, relocation of electric poles from town roads, repairing and renovation of Town Hall and other developmental issues of the town.

Principal Secretary gave on spot directions to the concerned officers for early redressal of genuine issues raised by the Councilors and sought cooperation of all stake holders for ensuring holistic development of the town and public service delivery at the doorsteps. He also directed the officials that while finalizing any type of developmental activity within the town, the Councilors shall be taken on board.
