Stresses 100 percent farmer coverage under PMFBY

SHOPIAN: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today convened an important review meeting to assess the implementation, progress and challenges related to Crop Insurance and various Social Security Schemes being implemented across the district here at Mini-Secretariat.

During the meeting, the DDC took a department-wise review of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), farmer coverage status, awareness activities and steps taken to ensure that farmers are brought under insurance cover ahead of the cropping seasons. He stressed on ensuring timely enrollment and transparency in service delivery.

The DDC directed the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to work in close coordination with financial institutions and CSCs for field-level verification, proper documentation and regular monitoring of insurance cases. He emphasized that no eligible farmer should remain uncovered and that the district must achieve saturation under the scheme.

The DDC also reviewed the progress of new enrollments under the social security schemes and exhorted upon departments to strengthen coverage and monitoring mechanisms and ensure 100 percent coverage of beneficiaries under social security schemes.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone; ACR, Shakoor Ahmad Dar; SDM, Bilal Ahmad; CAO, CHO, District Manager, CSC and other concerned were present in the meeting.
