REASI: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Nidhi Malik, today conducted a Public Grievances Redressal Camp at Dhol Devta Mandir, Bakal in Block Bhomag to take firsthand account of public issues and ensure timely resolution of grievances raised by residents of the area.
A large number of locals from Bakal and adjoining panchayats participated in the camp and highlighted their demands related to road connectivity, water supply, electricity, health services, education and other basic amenities.
Residents of Sujandhar sought improved drinking water supply, upgradation of local schools, fair ration distribution, release of pending land compensation, adequate staff availability, regulated transport fares, road repairs, landslide clearance, RTC bus service, arms licence renewal and relief for KKC loan holders.
Representatives from Bakal demanded disbursement of pending Railway compensation, Railway jobs for affected families and approach roads to cremation grounds.
Locals from Sersundawan reported extensive damage due to floods and landslides and sought pending relief, construction of protection walls, restoration of road and water supply, revival of MGNREGA works and plantation up to the Chenab Bridge.
The DDC gave a patient hearing to all individuals and delegations and assured them that their genuine concerns would be addressed in a time-bound manner. Responding to queries on pending compensation cases, she informed that all files forwarded to the District Disaster Committee have been cleared and compensation has been disbursed.
The DDC directed the Tehsildar Bhomag to immediately clear all pending genuine cases and verify details of families who have not yet received compensation so that their cases can be cleared.
Regarding road connectivity, the DDC informed that the Bakal–Lamsora road is currently under maintenance. The concerned PMGSY officer stated that blacktopping and patchwork would begin shortly. The DDC directed the authorities to complete the blacktopping work before the end of this month.
The PMGSY officials further informed that the Gran–Totte road is under tendering for permanent restoration and clarified that no road alignment has been altered, as construction has been carried out strictly as per GeoTag surveys.
The DDC directed officials to collect details of households that have not received compensation related to PMGSY roads so that further action can be taken. The XEN PWD Reasi informed that forest clearance has been granted for the Bakal–Saranapur road and work will commence once funds are made available.
Regarding demands for Railway jobs and compensation, the DDC assured that the matter will be taken up with higher authorities. She also directed the Tehsildar to prepare a detailed report of land patches where the Railways have dumped construction material.
The CEO Reasi informed that the feasibility report for upgradation of Government High School Sersundawan has already been submitted to higher authorities.
Responding to water-related issues, the XEN Jal Shakti informed that the water supply scheme in Blada is currently operating through a temporary arrangement and permanent restoration will begin soon.
The DDC instructed Jal Shakti officials to inquire into the status of JJM works in Blada and Sersundawan and ensure timely deployment of water tankers wherever required. She also appealed to the public to safeguard government assets and remain vigilant.
The DDC advised local residents to coordinate with BDO Bhomag for initiation of MGNREGA works for holistic development of the area. She urged people to avail maximum benefits of HADP schemes and approach their nearest Kissan Khidmat Ghars for assistance. She further directed the DFO Reasi to organise camps for timely distribution of timber to the public.
PO Poshan, Sudershan Kumar, CPO Narinder Kumar, ACD Vijay Kumar, CEO, XENs and other senior officers were present during the camp.
