DDC Ramban declares open inter-zone district level sports tourney

RAMBAN: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan today declared open inter zone district level sports tournament here at District Police Lines.

The four days sports event is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Ramban under the direction of Director General of Youth Services and Sports J&K Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman.

Nearly 360 selected Players of six zones including Banihal, Khari, Ukhral, Ramban, Gool and Batote would participate  in the various sport  disciplines including Badminton, Kho-Kho, Volleyball Cricket and Football.

The DDC also interacted with the participants and advised the youth to actively participate in the sports activities for their all-round development besides wishing them all the best for the games.

He asked the sports persons to follow the SOPs guidelines, while taking part in sports competitions to avoid spread of COVID-19 infection.

The tournament is being conducted under the overall supervision of   District Youth Services and Sports Officer,   Dharam vir Singh.

On the inaugural day, in a tough contest, Zone Batote U/14, Kho-Kho won by 2 point against Zone Ukhral; Zone Ramban U/17 Kho-Kho won by 8 points against Zone Banihal; Zone Ramban U/19 Kho- Kho boys won by 5 points against Zone Banihal.

While in Badminton U/14 boys doubles Ramban zone won by 2-1 set against Zone Ukhral, U17 Boys Banihal won against Zone Ramban by 2-1 set.

The Health Department also conducted COVID-19 sampling of participants as well as officials at the venue.
