RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today presided over an orientation–cum-training programme for Revenue officers and officials held here to make them aware about the process of geo-tagging of Wakf/Auqaf properties, digitization of records and upkeep of the assets.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dhreindra Sharma, Tehsildars, Patwaries and other concerned attended the programme organized by Auqaf Jammu in collaboration with District Administration Ramban.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged the Revenue officers to speed up geo-tagging and updation of Revenue records of Wakf/Auqaf properties in order to create a comprehensive database of the assets.

Administrator Aquaf Jammu, Mudassir Iqbal, said that geo-tagging will help the authorities to devise a plan for the protection and maintenance of Waqf properties. He said the Waqf has also been directed to digitize its records in order to ensure transparency in its functioning. “The data regarding the number of structures and land owned by the Waqf will be put into digital form.  It will give the government an idea about the performance of the Wakf Board,” he said.
