DDC, MD JJM review Jal Jeevan Mission implementation in Kulgam

KULGAM: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, along with Mission Director (MD), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Khurshid Ahmad Shah, today jointly chaired a review meeting to assess the progress and implementation status of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district.

Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, Superintendent Engineer PHE HYD Circle Anantnag/Kulgam, ACD, Technical Advisor Kashmir JJM- JK, Executive Engineers of PHE Division Kulgam/Qazigund, PHE-Mechanical and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

Both the officers were apprised about the present position of projects through a powerpoint presentation.

As per the figures, the district consists of 61,122 rural households out of which 53,871 households have been provided with Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) till date. 143 civil schemes and 16 mechanical schemes are in the scope of execution under JJM out of which 108 and 7 respectively have been commissioned. 259 works have been executed comprising of one Dug well, 4 Bore wells, 18 Rapid Sand Filtration Plants (RSFPs), 131 Pipe Networks, 15 Slow Sand Filtration Plants (SSFPs) and 92 General Service Reservoirs’ (GSRs).

District Development Commissioner and Mission Director JJM impressed upon all the officers of Jal Shakti Department to take responsibility of the execution of works under JJM and work with utmost dedication and sincerity, and provide FHTCs to the remaining 7251 households. They stressed upon the officers to gear up the execution of works without further delay so that the remaining people of the district are facilitated with the piped drinking water.

District Development Commissioner & MD fixed timelines on execution of different works and directed the concerned officers to ensure completion of these works within the given timelines. They also took a detailed review of various other schemes sponsored under JKIDFC and NABARD, besides reviewing the Mechanical schemes.

The chair was also informed that 42 villages in the district have been certified as Har Ghar Jal (HGJ) villages. MD directed the Executive Engineers to certify all HGJ reported villages as per the guidelines of National Jal Jeevan Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. 

Further Executive Engineer water quality was directed to expedite the water testing of samples in all schools, Anganwadi centres and in individual households. It was also emphasized that at least 5 women among the Pani samiti members in each village be trained for water quality testing.

Chief Chemist was directed to regularly monitor the water quality testing as per the revised protocol review of various other schemes sponsored under JKIDFC and NABARD, besides reviewing the Mechanical schemes.

The Mission Director later took an extensive tour of the district and inspected the Water supply schemes Yaroo, Watigam, Chadmullah, Jailbal, Mirhama, Langam and Tragbal.
