DDC Kupwara visits Lolab sub-division; inspects developmental works, health institutions

KUPWARA: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today instructed the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work and achieve targets within the stipulated time frame.

The DDC gave this direction during inspection of various on-going works and health institutions in Lolab sub division of Kupwara district.

Khalid Jahangir said that the objective of his visit was to inspect development works physically and to get first hand feedback regarding developmental tempo in the area.

He inspected various on-going developmental works including roads, buildings and health institutions and fixed timelines for completion of the projects.

The DDC inspected the 25 kilometer long Warnow-Khurhama-Himal (VKH) road, coming up at a cost of Rs.30 crore under the Central Road Fund.  He was informed that Rs.9 crore has been incurred on the project till date.

The 6 kilometer road from Khumriyal to Warnow has already been macadamized, while the rest of the road length will be macadamized by December this year. The road connects as many as 25 villages of the area.

The DDC inspected ongoing development works at Degree College, Sogam which include Earth Science Block, costing Rs.436 lakh; Administrative Block, costing Rs.60 lakhs; Pavilion, costing Rs.80 lakhs and levelling and development of Sports Ground, costing Rs.250 lakhs.

He instructed Executing Engineer R&B and all concerned officers to work with added dedication and ensure cent percent target completion by December end this year.

The DDC also inspected Bridge at Kanthpora and the RDD building at Wavoora and asked concerned officers to ensure its completion within the target period.

The DDC Kupwara inspected NTPHC Cherkoot and Health & Wellness Centre, Potushai and directed the BMO for establishment of an herbal garden in the premises of the health centre Potushai.

While inspecting the Health and Wellness Centre Wavoora, the DDC directed for construction of a boundary wall around the health centre for its protection.

The DDC also visited Sub District Hospital Sogam. On the occasion, he inspected OPD, Emergency room, Dialysis unit, Labour Room, Operation Theatre, Jan Aushadhi Store and Casualty section of the hospital. He directed the BMO for renovation of entry and exit gates of the hospital. He also asked him to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the hospital. 

SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat; BMO Sogam and Executive Engineer R&B, AEEs of various disciplines and concerned officers accompanied the DDC during the inspection of development works.
