DDC Kupwara reviews power sector ahead of winter season

KUPWARA: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress of the power sector in Kupwara district, ahead of winter season. 

The DDC took a detailed scheme wise and work wise review and received feedback from the officers. He said the objective of the meeting is to review the power scenario of the district ahead of winter season and directed the officers to work on mission mode to complete all ongoing works. He fixed the timeline of October 15 and ending November for different works and asked them to be committed to the timeline. 

The DDC asked both the Superintendent Engineers present in the meeting to work in tandem and added dedication to enable that during the ensuing winter power supply would be better than previous year. To achieve this target, the DDC directed the concerned engineers to work on mission mode for capacity addition of Grid Station Arampora and Vilgam. 

The meeting was informed that about 80 MVA Grid Capacity is being developed to already available 140 MVA capacities which will augment the power supply scenario in the district. The DDC asked the engineers to keep him informed about the progress on a weekly basis. 

He also asked the engineers to give weekly feedback to him about the two sub stations coming up in far flung areas of Machil and Keran at a cost of Rs.75 lakh and Rs.35 lakh respectively, where under new habitations of Katwara, Misri Behak in Machil and Naga Khaitan, Tirngdiyan, Gogeldori, Brandajhi in Keran are  being electrified. 

The DDC also directed them to gear up for augmentation of buffer stock of transformers to meet the requirements during the winter season so that people do not face any inconvenience. He also asked them to develop a mechanism for containing power theft and other illegal practices with which transformers get damaged. 

Reviewing the District CAPEX Budget under Power Sector, the DDC was informed that as many as 476 works have been approved at a cost of Rs.2279 lakh; against which 339 works have been accorded Administrative Approval and were allotted. The DDC was informed that work is apace on all the 213 works at different areas of the district. The DDC gave a deadline of October 15 for completion of 180 works and ending November for completion of the rest of the works. 

The DDC also reviewed the progress of different power projects coming up under Languishing Projects and Augmentation Works.

Superintendent Engineer North Circle KPDCL, Superintendent Engineer Projects Wing Power Kupwara, DIO, Executive Engineers and AEEs of different wings of the power department attended the meeting.
