Directs for timely disbursement of MGNREGA payments

KULGAM: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam Dr. Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Rural Development Department (RDD) at the mini-secretariat here.

During the meeting, the DDC took a comprehensive review of progress on various centrally sponsored schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 14th FC and status of B2V works.

At the outset, the ACD gave a detailed presentation regarding the development targets achieved by the department.

All the BDOs also apprised the DDC about the status of work projects in their respective blocks and achievements made so far under various schemes.

The DDC instructed the concerned to ensure timely disbursement of MGNREGA payments. He also directed to scale up the pace of all works under the execution of Rural Development and complete the same within the stipulated time.

The meeting was attended by ACD, ACR, ACP, CPO, Executive Engineers of REW, BDOs and other concerned officers.

Earlier, the DDC chaired a separate meeting of district officers and officers of executing agencies to take the first-hand appraisal of various developmental projects in the district.

On the occasion, the DDC sought a detailed account of various developmental works under different sectors from the concerned officers who briefed him about the physical and financial progress on the implementation of several projects.

The DC also reviewed the status of various languishing ongoing projects and works approved under the Back to Village programme. He impressed upon the officers to speed up the pace of work on these projects.

He also stressed for regular monitoring of works and directed the district heads to meet the targets and set timelines for the completion of vital projects in the district.

The DDC also took stock of the estimation process of new works to be executed under District Capex.

The meeting was attended by ACD, CPO, CMO, CEO, Executive Engineers of PHE, R&B, PDD and other concerned.
