BUDGAM: District Development Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a quarterly meeting of Regional Transport Authority/ District Road Safety Committee in Budgam.
ARTO Budgam, Mubashir Jan, Member Secretary of Committee presented the profile and achievements of the department along with action taken report on earlier decisions. On the occasion, Committee discussed District Road Safety Action Plan 2018-20 including mass awareness on road safety, safer roads and mobility, establishment of safe transport infrastructure and post crash response and suggested measures for better road management in the district.
DDC Budgam reviewed sector wise activities of the collaborating departments also and fixed targets for each of them, including mass awareness among drivers, transporters and school children; drivers education, training and medical checkup, providing of critical care ambulances and basic life support devices, installation of road signs, marking blind spots and curves, road repairments and road widening.
The DDC sought the coordinating role of departments, NGOs and transporters for making the traffic hassle free and emphasized on curbing wrong parking in major towns, establishment of parking spaces, curbing roof topping, overloading and sexual harassment in public transport.
The meeting was also attended by ADC Budgam, Additional SP Budgam, CEO Budgam, ExEn. Irrigation, DIO Budgam, Dy. SP Traffic, EOs of all Municipal Committees, representatives of Health, R&B, NGOs and heads of transporters union.
