Charts roadmap for digital empowerment under PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY & PMJDY

BUDGAM: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, today chaired an orientation cum awareness programme on Information Technology (IT) integration in social security schemes held at conference hall Budgam.

The event was aimed at sensitizing officers, bankers, nodal officials, and field-level functionaries about the role of IT platforms in strengthening implementation, monitoring, and delivery of central and state-run social security schemes.

During the orientation, detailed presentations were delivered highlighting the status, features, and achievements of various flagship schemes operational in district Budgam.

The schemes discussed in detail included Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) which has Annual Premium of Rs.436 per annum, Life insurance cover of Rs.2 lakh in case of death (any reason), so far in Budgam 23,876 subscribers have been enrolled.

Similarly, under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) which has Annual Premium of Rs.20 per annum and Accidental insurance of Rs.2 lakh, total 61,811 subscribers are enrolled in Budgam. Also, under Atal Pension Yojana (APY) total 5,128 subscribers are enrolled. Further, under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) , a total 1,15,477 accounts were opened.

DDC reviewed targets versus achievements for the financial year 2025–26, stressing the importance of covering every eligible household. He directed officials to redouble efforts to achieve saturation under all schemes and ensure that no eligible citizen is left uncovered.

He emphasised that these schemes are lifelines for economically weaker sections, vulnerable families, and marginalized groups, and IT-driven processes are the key to ensuring transparency, accountability, and citizen-friendly services

Dr. Bilal highlighted that integration of IT tools and data-driven governance is the cornerstone for achieving transparency, efficiency, and accountability in scheme implementation.

He stressed on real-time dashboards to track enrollments and disbursements, digital outreach campaigns to spread awareness at grassroots levels, beneficiary verification and Aadhaar seeding to eliminate duplications and leakages, use of mobile applications, SMS alerts, and grievance portals for faster redressal and citizen engagement.

DDC underlined that Budgam is taking pioneering steps in adopting IT solutions to modernize governance, empower citizens, and bring welfare schemes closer to people’s doorsteps.

He called upon all stakeholders including line departments, banks, Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs), and community organizations to work in close coordination. He urged them to take ownership of the mission to ensure that every farmer, laborer, worker, woman, and senior citizen in Budgam reaps the benefits of social security coverage.
