DC Srinagar inaugurates Potential Entrepreneurship Mela at Kashmir Haat

Reaffirms Admin’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and ensuring accessible support for aspiring youth

SRINAGAR: With an aim to connect Srinagar’s youth with viable livelihood opportunities and reinforce the administration’s ongoing mission to empower the youth through sustainable entrepreneurship and skill development, district administration Srinagar, in collaboration with the District Employment and Counseling Center Srinagar, today organized a one-day Potential Entrepreneurship Mela at the Kashmir Heart (Numaish Gah) Exhibition Ground.

The mela, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment among youth, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat.

Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, Fayaz Ahmed Dar; Joint Director Employment, Waseem Raja; Deputy Director Employment, Dr. Sheeba Inayat, along with the Career Counselling Officer (CCO) and Employment Officer (EO) from the Employment Department and other concerned also attended the event.

On the occasion, DC inspected various stalls set up by the different line departments. He interacted with the participants and encouraged the youth to take full advantage of available self-employment schemes.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and ensuring accessible support for aspiring business owners.

During the programme, Dr. Sheeba Inayat informed the dignitaries that district Srinagar has surpassed 780 applications under the Mission Yuva initiative, marking a significant achievement in youth engagement. The mela saw participation from 290 youth, with 50 registered on-the-spot under various Mission Yuva schemes via the official portal.

Career Counselling Officer and Employment Officer actively assisted participants with guidance, real-time registration, and information on available schemes.

Participants included budding entrepreneurs, SHG members, and representatives from SBDU, BHD, and Yuva Doots. All major line departments implementing self-employment schemes installed informative stalls highlighting, eligibility criteria, scheme benefits and financial support, application procedures and departmental contact points.

The event served as a strong step forward in connecting Srinagar’s youth with actionable opportunities, reinforcing the administration’s mission to empower the next generation through sustainable livelihoods and entrepreneurship.
