DC Srinagar chairs meeting of District Skill Committee

SRINAGAR:- The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Skill Committee(DSC) here in the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to discuss the Skill Development Plan for the District.

Joint Director, Planning, Chief Education Officer, General Manager DIC, District Social Welfare Officer, District Officer, JKEDI, District Lead Bank Manager, Superintendent ITI, Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Superintendent, Women’s ITI, Bemina and representative from Mission Director, J&K Skill Development and other members attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the DC directed for formulating a comprehensive District Skill Plan by involving different line Departments for widening the ambit of Skill Development programme under various schemes to create ample opportunities of employment for the unemployed youth of the District.

The DC said a Digital Platform is being created for Skilled Unemployed Youth of Srinagar District to provide them employment avenues by providing them requisite platform as per their trade so that they earn their livelihood with dignity and honour.

 The DC said the focus of Skill Development schemes should be to ensure creation of a robust skill environment in the district, which will enable the youth to get maximum skilling opportunities and enhanced job opportunities within the district.

The DC further asked the Officers to identify the need and Skill Development requirements in the District. He asked them to prepare a detailed list/database of Skilled unemployed youth under different Trades. He impressed upon the officers to identify the Skilled Unemployed Youth as per the need of the hour with market availability.

The DC enjoined upon the concerned to identify the Skilled/ ITI/Polytechnic pass outs such as Plumbers, Carpenters, Masons and Technicians of Air Condition/Washing Machine/Refrigerator/Automobile /Transformer repairs etc, besides in Hospitality and Infrastructural development sectors who would be accommodated for services.

The DC called for involving all line Department in the process for gap analysis. He emphasised on the need to capacitate more people with skill of varied trades and directed for giving wide publicity to the programme. The DDC laid stress upon incorporating industrialists, Traders, Manufacturers and other employment generating institutions for absorbing the youth especially the ITI pass outs for Skill Development.
