SHOPIAN: District Level Narco Coordination (NCORD) committee meeting was held today at Mini-Secretariat Shopian under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta.
On the occasion, DC reviewed department-wise action taken reports of Revenue, Police, Drug Controller, Rural development, Health, Social Welfare and others departments. He stressed on creating deterrence against the drug and substance abuse.
He called for comprehensive enforcement of drug dispensing norms by pharmacies with focus on conducting prescription audit and strengthening the fight against drug abuse by taking more strenuous efforts through conducting IEC activities, initiating the highest degree of penal action on drug peddlers and keeping close vigil on educational institutions.
DC also reviewed the functioning of the Addiction Treatment Facilities at DH and focused on reaffirming the need to accelerate the action against the abuse.
The alarming situation of substance abuse was highlighted and stakeholders instructed to take more result oriented action on wild bhung destruction drives, enforcing implementation of norms in scheduled drugs & creating awareness along with other measures.
SSP Anayat Ali, ADC Dr Zakir Hussain, ACR, SDM, ACD,Tehsildars, concerned district officers from Health, Agriculture, Drugs, Excise, ATF, Social Welfare and others attended the meeting.
