Independence Day: DC Samba reviews preparedness for safe celebration amid Covid pandemic

SAMBA: To review the arrangements for smooth conduct of Independence Day- 2021 celebrations in the district, a meeting of the District and Sectoral Officers was held on Monday under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Samba Anuradha Gupta, here at Conference hall DC Office, Nandani Hills.

Senior Superintended of Police, Rajesh Sharma; Additional District Development Commissioner, Tilak Raj Shastri; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sidharath Dhiman; Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour;   Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), PHE, and PDD Division Samba, besides other District and Sectoral Officers attended the meeting.

It was informed that the main function would be held in the Sports Stadium Arazi, where the chief guest will unfurl the Tricolor and take the salute of the March Past. Similar functions would be held at sub-divisions, Tehsils and blocks levels.

For the general supervision of the necessary arrangements, a Committee of the officers was constituted under the supervision of the Additional District Development Commissioner, with the officials from Police, Army, PWD, Information and other Departments.

 The DC directed PDD and Municipal authorities to replace/repair all the street/flood lights in the town, besides ensure installation of adequate lighting at the venue of celebration for security reasons.

The supervisory committee was asked to ensure proper social distancing, usage of sanitizers and masks at the venue. The CMO was directed to set up a medical exigency team at the venue and ensure proper screening and medical assistance.
