POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness and status of civic amenities and condition of roads ahead of the upcoming Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Mendhar and Surankote to conduct joint inspections along with their respective SDPOs to identify and report vulnerable spots on the designated Yatra routes. Emphasis was laid on ensuring both the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Officer Commanding (OC) GREF and Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Surankote to expedite all necessary maintenance works and ensure the roads are Yatra-ready well in advance. He reiterated the importance of completing the works before the commencement of the pilgrimage to facilitate smooth travel and avoid disruptions.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Xen PWD (R&B), OC GREF, Tehsildar Haveli and Tehsildar Mandi, besides SDM Mendhar, SDM Surankote, SDPO Mendhar, SDPO Surankote, Executive Engineers and other concerned officers participated through virtual mode and presented the status of roads in their respective jurisdictions.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized inter-departmental coordination and proactive measures to ensure the safe and successful conduct of the Yatra.
