DC Ramban reviews implementation of power sector schemes

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan today convened a comprehensive meeting to review the progress of works taken up under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDDS), Rooftop Solar coverage and installation of Smart Meters across the district.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather; Executive Engineer JPDCL Sunil Sharma; Engineers from various divisions; and representatives of agencies and vendors engaged in the execution of these key projects.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of promoting the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, an ambitious initiative aimed at encouraging households to adopt rooftop solar systems to reduce electricity bills and ensure uninterrupted power supply. He directed the officers of JPDCL, JAKEDA and all registered vendors to intensify public awareness campaigns, highlighting the long-term benefits and sustainability of solar energy adoption.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Executive Engineers to accelerate the pace of rooftop solar installations to achieve the targeted coverage within stipulated timelines. He also stressed that agencies must ensure strict adherence to quality standards during installations. Officers from JAKEDA and vendors were asked to take the lead in mobilizing public participation and addressing on-ground challenges promptly.

While reviewing the progress of smart meter installation, the Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agencies to expedite the process and ensure meters are installed at appropriate and safe locations for effective monitoring. He instructed the executing agency to ensure installation of smart meters of all beneficiaries of rooftop solar systems   and made them operational without delay. The DC further directed JPDCL officials to verify and certify the installation of meters to ensure smooth functionality and minimize public inconvenience.

The Deputy Commissioner also took a detailed review of works under the RDSS and directed the concerned agencies to fast-track execution, keeping in view the approaching winter season which may hamper outdoor work. He personally intervened to resolve several local issues brought up by the executing agencies and assured full administrative support to remove any bottlenecks.

The DC also assured every possible effort to strengthen the power supply infrastructure in Ramban district through timely completion of these vital projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, reliability and consumer satisfaction.
