RAMBAN: To mark week long Van Mahotsav celebrations, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today launched a plantation drive by planting saplings of fruit trees here in the premises of the District Administrative Complex.
The Van Mahotsav will continue from July 1 to July 7, 2021 in which a series of activities will be taken up by the Team Hamdard, Ramban, a local NGO.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the week-long activities will focus on improving biodiversity of the region and ensuring sustainable development of the ecologically fragile region. It will also help in soil and water conservation, thereby, minimizing incidents of landslides and other related environmental problems, he added.
DIO, NIC, Naveen Ahalwat, Varun Nagar, Asif Tantray and several other volunteers participated in the plantation drive.
