19000 persons of 18-44 age group vaccinated in Ramban district: DC

‘Positivity rate drops to 1.34 %’

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam today said that Ramban district has witnessed a sharp decrease in Covid cases with the positivity rate dropping to 1.34%.

Addressing media persons and the weekly media briefing, the DC informed that as many as 19000 persons which is 14% of the 18-44 years age group population of the district,  have been vaccinated in the last ten days. He said that 2000  persons are being vaccinated on a daily basis while the inoculation of all the persons above 45 years is expected to complete by June 30.

Responding to  media queries, the DC said that no serious post –vaccination complication has so far been reported in the district.

He also briefed the media regarding the action plan devised by the  administration    for achieving 100%  vaccination of the 18-44 age group as the district has adequate stocks of vaccine.

He informed that in 45year plus category Banihal and Gool medical blocks have almost achieved the vaccination target, while Batote and Ukhral will also achieve the target soon.

He informed that the rural COVID Isolation centres established in all 143 Panchayats have been provided medical supplies and 107 of them have been provided Medical Oxygen Concentrators.

The DC informed that progress on developmental projects remained unaffected even during 2nd Covid surge due to strict enforcement of Covid safety protocols and other containment measures. He said the district administration is determined to complete all works under this year’s district plan of Rs. 310.21 Cr before the deadline.

The DC urged Covid positive patients in rural areas who lack a separate room and toilet facility in their homes, to use these facilities to prevent others from getting infected. The DC said that sufficient Medical Oxygen Gas has been stocked in the district and the work for establishment of gas Plants  at Banihal and Batote hospitals is on.

The DC said that as deterrence against Covid inappropriate behavior, the enforcement teams have recovered an average Rs 1 Lakh fine from the violators daily since April 1, which has accumulated to Rs. 22.50 lakh.

Keeping in view the apprehension of resurgence of Covid infection, the District Administration has ordered the Enforcement teams to take strict action against violators, he added.  

The DC also urged the people to avoid going to crowded places besides adhering to all necessary precautions like wearing masks and maintaining social distance to further contain spread of Coronavirus.
