Traffic movement restored
RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan on Thursday monitored road clearance operations immediately after a massive landslide struck NH-44 between Karol and Chanderkote.
SSP Traffic, Raja Adil Hameed and other officers were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner supervised the operation and directed the concerned agencies to ensure coordinated and timely action. Acting swiftly, men and machinery of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were pressed into service to clear the debris and restore traffic movement.
Owing to the prompt response of the Deputy Commissioner and the active involvement of all stakeholders, traffic movement was successfully restored on both sides of the highway within a short span of time. Meanwhile, maintenance and stabilization work is being carried out continuously to ensure the safety and durability of the road stretch.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for constant monitoring of vulnerable points along the highway and instructed officials to remain on high alert. He also appreciated the efforts of field teams, Traffic Police, District Police and NHAI personnel for their swift and dedicated response.
The District Administration has advised drivers and commuters to exercise caution while traveling on the affected stretch and to strictly follow traffic advisories issued by the authorities. People have also been urged to avoid unnecessary travel as there are shooting stones intermittently and cooperate with the administration in ensuring public safety.
