DC Ramban leads snow clearance operations, ensures swift restoration of connectivity, essential services

RAMBAN: In response to the recent heavy snowfall and rainfall across the district, the District Administration Ramban led by Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan has launched extensive snow clearance and restoration operations on a war footing to ensure uninterrupted connectivity and the timely restoration of essential services.

The Deputy Commissioner   along with Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban Arun Gupta, SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hameed and Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, personally monitored late-night snow clearance and restoration operations at various vulnerable locations.

Officers from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were also present on the ground to ensure coordinated and swift action.

While inspecting restoration works today at Batote, Nashri, Ramsoo, Banihal and other locations, the Deputy Commissioner held detailed discussions with both SSPs and other senior officers regarding smooth traffic regulation in NH-44. Necessary instructions were issued to ensure hassle-free and safe vehicular movement, particularly on critical and snow-prone stretches.

The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with local residents, assuring them of all possible assistance and timely restoration of road connectivity. He directed the concerned officers to remain responsive to public needs and ensure prompt redressal of issues arising due to adverse weather conditions.

Reviewing the restoration work along National Highway-44 from Ramban to Banihal, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that restoration of road connectivity, especially NH-44, remains the topmost priority of the district administration.

Talking to the media persons, the DC informed that all executing agencies, including NHAI, PMGSY, Public Works Department (PWD) and BEACON, are working round-the-clock to restore traffic and clear snow-affected roads across the district, ensuring that normal movement of people and vehicles is not hampered.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed officers concerned with essential services to ensure the immediate restoration of power supply, drinking water and other critical services in all affected areas. The status of health services was reviewed and directions were issued to maintain full preparedness to deal with any emergency.

It was further informed that 24×7 control rooms at both district and tehsil levels are fully functional to monitor the situation and respond promptly to public grievances. Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars have been instructed to closely monitor restoration works at the ground level to ensure early normalization.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner advised travelers to strictly follow traffic advisories issued by the Traffic Department before commencing their journey to avoid inconvenience and ensure safety.
